Gas fire pits from American makers
Every fire pit in this collection runs on natural gas or propane and comes from a maker we work with directly: Prism Hardscapes, Fire by Design and Slick Rock Concrete. They are cast in concrete or GFRC, finished by hand and built for years outdoors. As an authorized dealer, we help you choose the shape, size, fuel and ignition that fit your space.
Shapes and styles
-
Round and square fire bowls put the flame in the center of a compact vessel. See all fire bowls.
-
Rectangular and linear fire tables leave a wide ledge for drinks and plates, at coffee or dining height. See all fire tables.
-
Oval and long fire tables, up to 96 inches, anchor large seating areas and commercial patios.
-
Pedestal fire bowls raise the flame to eye level, like the Prism Hardscapes Pentola and Lombard.
-
Fire and water bowls pair a flame with a water spillway for pools. See all fire and water bowls.
Natural gas or propane, match-lit or electronic
Most models are built for either fuel, and you choose when you order. Natural gas runs from your home's gas line, so you never refill a tank. Propane works anywhere, and some models, like the Prism Hardscapes Pentola 3, give access to a tank inside the base. A match-lit fire pit opens with a key valve and lights with a long lighter, with no power needed. Electronic ignition lights with a switch or remote. Fire by Design's all-weather systems relight on their own if the flame goes out, and need a 120V outlet nearby.

Gas fire pit questions
What is GFRC?
GFRC is glass fiber reinforced concrete. The glass fibers let makers cast thinner, lighter pieces than standard concrete, with crisp edges and a smooth finish that holds up outdoors. Because each piece is cast by hand, color and texture vary slightly from one fire pit to the next.
What goes on top of the burner?
Gas fire pits use fire-rated media such as lava rock or fire glass to cover the burner and spread the flame. Never use river rock, gravel or other stone that is not made for fire, since it can hold moisture and crack. See our fire media for options sized for each maker.
Can I switch a fire pit from propane to natural gas later?
Only with the maker's conversion parts, such as the Prism Hardscapes PH-470 kit, installed by a licensed gas technician. It is simpler and less costly to order the fuel you plan to use from the start.
Does a gas fire pit need professional installation?
Yes. The makers we carry require a licensed local technician to connect the gas, and electronic ignition models also need an outdoor rated outlet. Your installer also checks the clearances in the owner's manual for your model.
What is the difference between a fire pit, a fire bowl and a fire table?
A fire pit is the general name for an outdoor gas fire feature. A fire bowl is a round or square vessel with the flame in the center and little ledge around it. A fire table has a wide top around the burner, so it doubles as a coffee or dining table.
